Finally returned home, Reef McKenna finds his beloved Alaska facing its greatest threat.

Growing up, goody-two-shoes Kirra Jacobs and troublemaker Reef McKenna were always at odds. Now, working together as search-and-rescue for Alaska’s arduous Iditarod race, a growing attraction seems to be forcing aside old arguments. Then Reef catches Kirra sneaking from camp in the middle of the night.
Kirra’s uncle, a musher in the race, has disappeared. Kirra and Reef quickly track the man, but what they discover is harrowing: Frank’s daughter has been kidnapped. Kirra and Reef, along with the entire McKenna family, are thrown into a race to stop a shadowy villain who is not only threatening a girl’s life–but appears willing to unleash one of the largest disasters Alaska has ever seen.

Rating: ★★★★★ (5 out of 5 stars)

My Review:
This exciting story begins when Kirra Jacobs discovers her uncle has suspiciously gone missing on Alaska’s Iditarod race. Reef McKenna is part of the search-and-rescue team working the race and is coincidentally paired with Kirra—the girl he’s known, and fought with, since childhood. When Reef spots Kirra sneaking out into the bitter cold to investigate her uncle’s disappearance, he follows her and that’s when things get dangerous. As they uncover clue after clue, Reef and Kirra find themselves way over their heads with evidence of abduction, robberies, shootings, eco-terrorism, and murder. With the help of the entire McKenna family, they race to stop who could be the most dangerous men they have stood up against yet.

Sabotaged was perhaps my most anticipated in this wonderful series, mainly because I’d been waiting for Reef’s happy ending for a while and the fact that I knew from the previous book I was going to love Kirra. You know when you fall so in love with the characters in a series that you feel like you’re part of their family? That’s how it was for me with the McKenna’s, and I’m sure with many other readers as well. Dani Pettrey has this warm way of telling a story that sucks you in and leaves you hungry for more. Not only are the characters unbelievably endearing, but the story is so intriguing and fast-paced. Sabotaged has it all—mystery, love, suspense, and character growth—just as with the all the books in this lovable series.

If you are looking for a series that’s inviting, heartfelt, suspenseful, romantic, and downright lovable—this is it. I seriously cannot recommend the Alaskan Courage books enough. I just have to remind myself that this isn’t a goodbye, because I know I will be revisiting the McKenna’s soon enough!

*I received this book free from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

Fabulous review, Bekah! Bittersweet as this is to let this series “go,” I was very satisfied with the way it ends. The family is always at the forefront of what makes these stories work well, and I loved that. Anxious to learn more about Dani’s next series, which I think will premiere early next year. 🙂

Thanks, Rissi! Exactly, the family is what made this series so very special. I’ll definitely have to revisit someday. I heard she was writing another series–eek! So excited to see what comes next! After this series, I’ll forever be a fan. 🙂
